I am a keeper of gnomes. I actually have 8 gnomes and 1 troll living in my garden. I am a peaceful person. The gnomes and troll know this and are free to come and go as they please. I am not their "owner" as most of them (except two) came to me of their own accord, I didn't go looking for them. I assume I provide a lovely perennial garden for them to enjoy b/c every year it comes back into full bloom.

I would love it if my gnomes went on a vacation, as long as I got pictures of where they've been! It would also be nice to see them again, but I understand the world is a big place and there is lots to see.

I also have gnomes that like to live in my house. Again, about 8 and again they came to me via others. Most of these inside gnomes were "owned" previously. I like to think that my friends saw my commitment to improving gnome lives and thought their gnomes deserved a happier life. So, it is my belief that the gnomes like to be here and are satisfied with their lives.

I truly think of them as a part of who I am and my family.

I just wanted to write to you to tell you how much I appreciate your efforts for those gnomes who are not as fortunate as mine, but also to make your audience aware that not everyone treats gnomes with disregard and disdain.

I wish you all well.

First take a deep breath and understand that as devastating as this situation seems, it is being repeated thousands of times in gardens across the snow belt. Thank you for your attention.

We suggest that you send the owner a letter that you can copy from our “Act Now” page and begin peaceful negotiations. In these desperate times one can hope that if you don’t manage to convince the owner to liberate the gnomes, they may, at very least be given more humane shelter.

Good luck to you, and please send us an update on the situation.
